EnRoute Winery Les Pommiers Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2017

$59.99

93 WS                                                                       EnRoute was founded by the family of partners of Far Niente and Nickel & Nickel. Their journey to find the best place to make the Pinot Noir of their dreams culminates at last in EnRoute: Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Limited. 93 Points Wine Spectator: "Rich, with voluptuous dark fruit flavors and Asian spice accents. Dark cherry and plum tart notes dominate, showing hints of cassis. Cedar and sandalwood details emerge on the creamy finish. Drink now through 2025." EnRoute 2017 "Les Pommiers" Pinot Noir draws its name from the apple orchards emblematic of the Russian River Valley's agricultural history. At once elegant and intense, Les Pommiers is the consummate blend of fruit from our vineyards located primarily in the Green Valley and upper Middle Reach areas of the Russian River Valley AVA. Our grapes are farmed according to organic principles and minimally handled at the winery. The wine is deftly shaped with a subtle combination of new and once-used French oak barrels. Les Pommiers captures aromatics of wild raspberry, black cherry, plum and floral notes that yield to mineral, spice and toasty oak. It has a juicy, coating entry, followed by more layers of raspberry and cherry fruit, and ripe, integrated tannins.

Had a bottle a year ago, wanted to see it’s development. EnRoute established in the RRV in 2007 by the partners of Far Niente. Les Pommiers introduced in May 2009 and reflects a blend of vineyards from Green Valley and upper Middle Reach area of RRV AVA. Complex fruit aromas, cedar and mineral notes. On the palate black cherry and ripe cranberry flavors with tobacco & toasty oak, rich structured tannins. Nice mouthfeel, zesty crisp acidity ending with fruit, mineral and oak character. Nice! Aging well!

rich, ripe, medium ruby; slightly confected quality of rose, raspberry, strawberry and cherry. Real Russian River profile - medium body, lovely texture. Heavier style but undeniably Pinot noir - very varietal

EnRoute, established 2007 in Russian River Valley by the partners of Napa’s Far Niente winery. An outstanding wine, deep Ruby with aromas of ripe fruit flavors with subtle notes of earth and spice. On the palate cherry and ripe red plum, savory with gentle herb spice. Smooth fine ripe tannins, well balanced on long finish ending with perfect earthy character. Very Nice!

Probably at its peak. Fairly ripe for PN, definitely a steak wine. But drinking very well with a little age on it. I don’t drink much Pinot in this style but this one’s delicious.

Bigger extraction #russianrivervalley #pinotnoir. Cherry preserves, slight peppery notes on the nose. Creamy texture on the palate, start to get some varietal character and good acidity as it warms up. I prefer a more elegant, lower ABV style but if heavier Pinot is your thing, here’s a good example though QPR isn’t compelling.
