Dutton-Goldfield Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir 2014

$44

Fantastic new Pinot from Sonoma's famed Dutton Ranch! After working closely together as winemaker and grape grower since 1990, Steve Dutton and Dan Goldfield merged their talents to create Dutton-Goldfield Winery in 1998. Their mission is to produce vineyard-designated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from their home in the western Russian River Valley. The wines express the unique qualities of fruit from hand-selected vineyards and the work of an appreciative winemaker, and this brand new release certainly showcases that. The Dutton-Goldfield Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir has deep black fruit character, while the nose greets you with lilacs, followed by black cherry, dark chocolate and a streak of blueberry. In the mouth, the black cherry dominates the core of sweetness, complemented by black tea, raspberry and fine-grained tannins. The richness of the wine makes it a perfect match for foie gras, glazed duck, barbecued shrimp, eggplant parmesan and Jarlsberg and Asiago cheeses.

A bit deep color of reddish violet. It has same flavor, tropical fruits like I felt at tasting Bourgogne Gran Cru. It makes me feel high value of US Pinot @13000, Yoshizawa, 180301

This is a wine for savoring slowly, carefully allowing your tongue to mince with abandon through berry patches and stands of ancient sycamore, alone.
