Duckhorn's rare Three Palms Vineyard Merlot is now available - limited. 94 Points Wine Enthusiast: "Duckhorn's Three Palms bottling is one of the oldest and most consistent Merlot vineyard designations in California and this is a classic example. The wine always is very tannic but dry and rich and complex in mineral-laden cherries and currants, with just the right application of new oak. You can decant it now for several hours and enjoy with a dramatically charred streak, but it will develop beautifully through 2019, at least." A sumptuous incarnation of Three Palms Vineyard Merlot, this mouth-filling and age-worthy wine displays suppleness, balance and structure, with seamless integration between lush fruit and new French oak. The aroma offers layered elements of fresh baked cherry pie, red licorice, and vanilla bean. On the palate, juicy boysenberry and blackberry layers intermingle with notes of strawberry, cherry, orange rind, and cinnamon spice, accented by earth tones and subtle oak.

Big but balanced, a cab drinkers merlot for sure. 2012 is just hitting its stride.

Merlot... I had no idea... so plush. A chocolate and plum jacket that makes you feel safe. Lush, and like a silk pillow. I would pair this with Pink Floyd's comfortably numb.

Took awhile to open up but eventually showed beautifully. This has a long life ahead of it.

Quite delicious! Amazingly easy to drink and full of rich fruit balanced well by oak. A little acid would be nice but this is great.

Young and tightly wound but shows excellent structure. Needs a few years to really shine.

Still so young. Tightly wound right out of the bottle. Big and bold. Loads of blue fruit with a big dose of oak. In 5 years this will be monumental.
