Over three decades ago, before crafting their first vintage, the Duckhorns and their winemaker had a passionate discussion at the kitchen table. Though they debated making a cuvée, they chose to focus on varietal wines. Even so, Duckhorn Vineyards has always remained fascinated by the artful blend of varietals from diverse Napa Valley vineyards. Embodying the depth and complexity of a world-class Estate program, The Discussion represents the pinnacle of the Duckhorn Vineyards portfolio and the ongoing dialogue that defines great winemaking. - See more at: http://www.duckhorn.com/product/2010-Duckhorn-Vineyards-The-Discussion-Estate-Napa-Valley-Red-Wine?pageID=94CF7639-C7B2-ADED-60EF-2E8213F8A775&sortBy=DisplayOrder&maxRows=12&#sthash.CwYevegQ.dpuf Over three decades ago, before crafting their first vintage, the Duckhorns and their winemaker had a passionate discussion at the kitchen table. The Discussion was blended using the very best barrels of wine from the finest blocks of our estate vineyards. While this wine is abundantly rich and flavorful, it is defined by its refinement and complexity. Aromas of licorice, graphite, blackberry, violet and French thyme offer a beautiful prelude to an opulent mouthfeel marked by pure, focused flavors of Bing cherry and spiced plum, as well as silky tannins. These tannins, and seamlessly integrated oak, provide lovely structure, adding depth and nuance to this age-worthy wine.

Dark fruit, mint and cocoa. Structured and elegant.

$135? Wow that's expensive. This really really wishes it was Boudreaux, it's not. Still made with same amount of love.

Decanted and it helped open up this initially tight wine. Notes of blackberry initially with a dried herd finish.

Wow. Nothing subtle. A big Cali blend. But very nice and decent balance. Powerful robusta style. Not syrupy. Chocolate, tobacco, ripe cherry. Not my usual preference but it’s thanksgiving and I like it! Don’t think I would buy this for myself (it was a gift).

Loved this wine. Great backbone with blue and dark fruit that lasted awhile. Drank over 3 hours.

Mystery meat selection. This is quite nice but definitely not worth list price.

It’s hard to understand why one would spend this amount of money on a bottle of wine until you properly decant and glass this excellent wine, and then, and then it all makes sense.
