Over three decades ago, before crafting their first vintage, the Duckhorns and their winemaker had a passionate discussion at the kitchen table. Though they debated making a cuvée, they chose to focus on varietal wines. Even so, Duckhorn Vineyards has always remained fascinated by the artful blend of varietals from diverse Napa Valley vineyards. Embodying the depth and complexity of a world-class Estate program, The Discussion represents the pinnacle of the Duckhorn Vineyards portfolio and the ongoing dialogue that defines great winemaking. - See more at: http://www.duckhorn.com/product/2010-Duckhorn-Vineyards-The-Discussion-Estate-Napa-Valley-Red-Wine?pageID=94CF7639-C7B2-ADED-60EF-2E8213F8A775&sortBy=DisplayOrder&maxRows=12&#sthash.CwYevegQ.dpuf Over three decades ago, before crafting their first vintage, the Duckhorns and their winemaker had a passionate discussion at the kitchen table. While this wine is abundantly rich and flavorful, it is defined by its refinement and complexity. Aromas of licorice, graphite, blackberry, violet and French thyme offer a beautiful prelude to an opulent mouthfeel marked by pure, focused flavors of Bing cherry and spiced plum, as well as silky tannins. These tannins, and seamlessly integrated oak, provide lovely structure, adding depth and nuance to this age-worthy wine.

This is in a great spot now with a long life ahead of it. Another example of a great wine made in a cool vintage.

May have reviewed this when visiting Duckhorn back in February, but regardless, a lovely wine. We enjoyed this while tailgating during half time of the TCU game...glad the Frogs pulled out the win to begin the season! As for the wine, it's really quite easy to enjoy. Smells of blackberry and oak, and the taste is full of plums and earthiness/graphite.

My friends loved this wine! I was the only one who wasn't quite ecstatic. Definitely enjoyable, but not a favorite of mine.
