Dominus' second label, the Napanook is a great opportunity to try the Dominus magic at a fraction of the price. Drink this beauty while the Dominus is aging in the cellar.93 Points Robert Parker: "The 2012 Napanook displays a classic profile filled with cedarwood, Christmas fruitcake, spice box, sassafras and plenty of red and black currants. Some firm tannins are present, but they are well-integrated. This fruit-forward, opulent effort is a terrific second wine. Interestingly, it is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot that should drink well for 15+ years."

Nose has ripe dark fruits, plum, blackberry, black cherry, wet rusted metal and garden soil. Palate has sweetened tart cherry juice, blackberry jam, wet leather, dried leafy herbs, cocoa powder, faint metallics with a long finish and mild tannins. Quite a nice bottle. Decanted 3H, starting to unfold, but 8-10 more years appreciated.

Deep intense red with aromas of rich dark fruit, smoke and spice. On the palate cherry and blackberry flavors with licorice and earthy spice. Soft dusty tannins but some time can make them better. Fresh on the finish with a lingering ending of toasty oak. Tasting Sample.

Best Napanook yet. Maybe reflected by the fact that it costs twice as much as it did a few years ago. Big and bold. Rivals some estate flagship wines and it's just a secondary.

Extremely well balanced between fruit, tannin, and more aggressive flavors of earth. Impressive, but I bet this will be far superior in a few years.

A little green and tight. Strong and pronounced as usual but I wonder what the high end stuff was like this year.
