Dominus' second label, the Napanook is a great opportunity to try the Dominus magic at a fraction of the price. Drink this beauty while the Dolminus is aging in the cellar.93 Points Robert Parker: "The 2008 Napanook (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot) may be one of the greatest Napanooks made. It is a deeper, richer, more intense wine with full body, an endearing texture and a long, pure finish. These two are 'take your pick' vintages, but wine enthusiasts would probably be remiss in not having both 2007 and 2008 in their cellars."

Worth maybe 17 of my 60 dollars. (Suffering from comparison to the previous wine.) "why am I soft in the middle now?"

A lot of wood, charcoal and blackberry in nose and taste with a nice long finish. Very enjoyable overall but a bit different

7.5 years ago, I bought this from a local bottle shop for 55 bucks. And I'm not really sure how I held on to this one for so long except maybe I had a similar vintage and thought it was nowhere near ready. Well, this one was ready tonight. The front has a nose of sweet oak, herbs, blackberry. The entry is blackberry with a touch of pencil shaving. Medium to full-bodied. The middle goes a little bit darker with some perfectly ripe plum and figs. Perfectly aged blackberry in the background as the core and backbone of this wine. Finishes actually with pretty sweet oak tannin and really not a lot of pepper spice. This went very well with non-spicy Asian cuisine which was the fare tonight. I think this wine would go perfectly with anything that isn't too spicy as I was not really picking up a lot of acidity, spice, or pepper notes on the middle and finish. This is drinking at its height right now and probably will for the next three to five years with proper cellaring.

Random find a airport duty free. Bought ready to be disappointed but it was a real fun bottle. Some hints of tertiary flavors (mushrooms, forest floor) but on the whole it was a great mix of old and new world.
