The new vintage of Dominus Estate 2013 Proprietary Red now available - limited. 100 points Robert Parker: "The haunting, possibly perfect 2013 Dominus is composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Fashioned from tiny berries (the smallest Christian Moueix had seen from this vineyard), it possesses a velvety richness and seamlessness as well as profound notes of blueberries, blackberries and crème de cassis intermixed with hints of espresso bean, forest floor and high-quality unsmoked cigar tobacco. Full-bodied and opulent as well as exceptionally elegant and pure, fans of this estate will adore this sensational Dominus. Moreover, it should evolve for 25-30 or more years. " 100 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2013 Dominus overwhelms all the senses with its magnificent overall balance and towering intensity. Deep and nearly impenetrable in the glass, the 2013 boasts off the charts dry extract and overall power. Violets, smoke, black cherries, menthol, incense, crème de cassis and dark spices are some of the many signatures that take shape in the glass. Even better in bottle than it was in barrel, the 2013 is utterly magnificent. This is a remarkably vivid, nuanced wine considering its sheer size." Since its inaugural vintage in 1983, the wines of Dominus Estate have been crafted in a traditional and terroir-driven style by the luminous Christian Moueix of Chateau Petrus fame. Unable to pass up the change to make what he called the “Haut-Brion of Napa”, Moueix came to own the legendary Napanook Vineyard. Moueix eschews irrigation, acidification, and the heavy usage of oak common amongst his Napa colleagues. The exceptional terroir of Napanook in combination with his skillful viticulture and traditional winemaking techniques have repeatedly resulted in some of the most broadly enjoyable Napa Cabs available and clearly place Dominus in the upper echelon of this genre.

Weston hosted Friday group today and was it definitely a can’t miss tasting. Wow! Absolutely knocked it out of the park with heavy hitter after heavy hitter. Similar to Wednesday group, all wines are tasted blind. This was red number one in a line of outstanding cabs. Obviously a baby, so the score reflects that, but in 15+ years, you can see the 100pt potential that it was decorated with upon release. Right now, it’s very red fruit dominant alongside herbal spice. Seemed to be the most harmonious (fruit vs secondary notes) out of the 5 cabs.

A stunner, though a little tight right now. Monumentally structured, the wine unfolds in the glass with new aspects of it revealed by the moment. Would it were that I had a case, I'd keep it for a decade or two hence.

Kind of a shame to drink this so young. Decanted for 4 hours. Shows a lot of potential.

This could be the best Dominus ever surpassing the great 91 & 94 vintages. Dominus always needs time in the cellar to develop and show its Bordeaux style character but this was surprisingly approachable after a 2 hr decant showing layers of dark fruits, cassis, violets, earth, mocha and spices, densely structured with great balance and length.

Wow, so this what a 100 or wine tastes like. Relatively austere for Napa, herbaceousness, warm butteriness, deep black fruit, potpourri, violet, lush AF

An early peak at 2013 Dominus Estate. Tons of potential so I'm at 93+

Needed more decanting time, but continued to open up with balanced, beautiful fruit. Needs another 10 years
