Domaine Serene Yamhill Cuvée Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2011

$44.99

One of Oregon's most coveted producers of Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley's rare Reserve Pinot Noir. This cuvée is billed as the "little sister" to the winery's Evenstad Reserve. Yamhill Cuvée has an aroma profile that consists of red fruits, minerals, spice, earth, and hint of French Oak. The palate offers youthful tannins and balanced acidity which lead to a smooth and graceful finish. It is approachable in its youth, while maintaining the elegance and finesse of a Domaine Serene Pinot Noir. 91 Points Wine Spectator: "A lively, lithe and inviting red, offering an array of red fruit, floral and spice overtones that come together on the focused and deftly balanced finish. Drink now through 2018.."

Never fails, hallmark of Oregon quality, always big always polished, this 11 of course is leaner but for Serene that means balanced. Great juice, thanks Ken.

Floral notes of cherry and strawberry. Mouthfeel was very silky with a nice smooth finish. Elegant compared to California Pinot. Looking forward to my trip to Willamette Valley next week.

Deep ruby color with a forward aroma of oak, red fruit and forest floor. Pronounced acidity on the palate with too much oak to balance the cranberry and forest floor fruit. Overall the wine lacks value for the high price

2011 vintage. Elegant showing. Bright, yet subtle. Underlying spice provided texture, but came across slightly thin. Very enjoyable and well made, showing the vintage.

Vivid Ruby and rich fruit aromas of red berries and floral spices, known as “little sister” of the Evenstad Reserve. The palate shows sweet cherry and strawberry fruit with hint of oak & citrus zest. The wine is well balanced, long finish, smooth tannins, residual fruit and mineral tones. Aged for 12 mos in new French oak (54%).
