Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Willamette Valley Pinot Noir 2016

$74.99

95 Points!                                           One of Oregon's most coveted producers of Pinot Noir in the Willamette Valley's rare Reserve Pinot Noir. 94 Points Wine Spectator: "Polished and gracefully complex, with refined raspberry and strawberry flavors accented by toasty cinnamon and river stone notes, finishing with lithe tannins. Drink now through 2025." Wine Enthusiast:  "Dark, full, generous and ripe to the far edge of elegance, this powerful Pinot is saturated with black fruits, annoted with fennel, pepper, smoke and espresso, the rich and varied flavors rolling right through a lush midpalate and on into a gently fading finish.  Retasted over 24-48 hours, it continued to evolve and develop additional nuances.  A wine that can develop like a fine Burgundy to cellar for a decade or more."

This is the 30th anniversary of this iconic Pinot Noir bottling. This particular edition was aged for sixteen months in 65% new French oak prior to bottling. The nose here is simply sensational ranging from cardamon accents to peat moss and black truffle shavings to bright red fruits and citrus zest that all amalgamate marvelously. The texture is beautiful as this silky wine effortlessly dances across the mid-palate. The seamlessness of this wine really entices. Dense dark and red fruits pack this incredible new release. I realize that I have written this before but this 2016 ‘Evenstad’ is up there with the best of its kind ever produced. If enjoying in its youth I beseech you to afford at least a two hour decant prior to enjoying this seductive, hedonistic Oregon Pinot Noir. Drink 2020-2040- 95

Iconic Oregon Pinot delivers big time. Cherry, blueberry and hazelnut.

An all-time favorite for me. Still the best Pinot Noir I’ve tasted yet. I typically like Cabernet-Sauvignon and this reminds me of a good cab but with the lightness and “headroom” between tastes that Pinot tends to have.

Really nice Pinot. Medium bodied, more flavorful than usual for an Oregon Pinot. Nice fruit notes.

This was definitely the favorite tonight. It had a lot of vanilla on the palate and quite smooth. Tasted pretty young still but very good.
