Dolce Winery Late Harvest Napa Valley Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2011

$79.99

Napa Valley's Dolce Winery, owned by the folks at Far Niente, is the only winery in North America that is solely devoted to producing a single, late harvest wine. It is one of the few wineries in the world willing to make such a commitment, sharing a common philosophy with the great Sauternes producers of Bordeaux. 375ml "half bottle". 98 Points Wine Enthusiast: "With this wine, Dolce cements its status as California's most consistently great dessert wine. This year's blend is 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, and the grapes were infected with teh botrytis, resultikng in the fantastic sweetness.  Devastating in apricot, orange, pear, honey, vanilla, and creme brulee flavors, in an unctuous, viscous texture, with wonderfully clean acidity, it's certainly one of the greatest sweet California wines in recent memory."

Holy shit...Really? Is it it a local law that you have to drink crazy awesome wine in Napa? So sure it's for desert but trust me; this was for all occasions.

Golden honey coloration. Beautifully bottled. On the nose, butterscotch, citrus and vanilla. On the palate, apricot and butterscotch dominate, initially giving way to honeysuckle through a long sweet finish. Beautiful balance of sweetness and acidity. The texture is silky smooth. Great dessert wine.

I’m generally not an after dinner wine kind of girl but this one just hits the spot
