Diamond Creek Vineyards Red Rock Terrace Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Among the original Cult Cabernets, Diamond Creek continues to amaze in 2010 with a trio of wines that must be included in any serious collector's stash as one of the most ageable Cabs in California. Red Rock Terrace is a warm microclimate, 7 acres of north facing vineyard. The red tinted soil is high in iron content. The wine from Red Rock Terrace is the most accessible and earliest to be really drinkable of all Diamond Creek releases. This Cabernet boasts velvety tannins, rich and well balanced, medium dark ruby color with cherry, mint and black currant flavors. 98 Points James Suckling: "The aromas of blueberries, blackberries and spices are impressive. Black licorice and iodine. Full-bodied, very linear and tight with a beautiful mouthfeel. Extremely long and polished. Lingering finish. So beautiful now, but better in 2022." previous vintage 99 Points Robert Parker: "The Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace is deep garnet-purple colored with a drop-dead gorgeous nose of crème de cassis, warm plums and blueberry compote with touches of chocolate box, licorice, vanilla pod and coffee beans plus wafts of cedar and cinnamon toast. Full-bodied and rich with gorgeous super ripe, fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, it finishes very long and very spicy."

Uber concentrated fruit, blackcherry , plum, new oak, jalapeño and mint. For as young as this giant is it was still utterly amazing with a long decant..paired perfect with our wagyu brisket...will be for sure brilliant in years to come..

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace is a dark, powerful wine. It is also richer and more immediate than has been the norm here in the past. Bold and racy in the glass with tremendous fruit density, the 2016 is packed with a whole range of super-ripe red cherry and red plum fruit flavors. Spice, floral and licorice overtones add a pretty upper register to this expressive and surprisingly accessible young Diamond Creek Cabernet. Readers won't have to cellar the 2016 too long - that much is clear. The 2016 was done with 120% new oak, which means 100% new in the first year and another 20% new in the second year, which I don't think this wine really needs. That said, the oak is very nicely balanced. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, January 2020)
