Among the original Cult Cabernets, Diamond Creek continues to amaze in 2007 with a trio of wines that must be included in any serious collector's stash as one of the most ageable Cabs in California. Red Rock Terrace is a warm microclimate, 7 acres of north facing vineyard. The red tinted soil is high in iron content. The wine from Red Rock Terrace is the most accessible and earliest to be really drinkable of all Diamond Creek releases. This Cabernet boasts velvety tannins, rich and well balanced, medium dark ruby color with cherry, mint and black currant flavors.95+ Points Robert Parker: "The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Rock Terrace boasts serious depth and power, but it appears to be holding all of the elements very much in reserve. Hints of camphor, tar, menthol, wild flowers and dark fruit open up gradually over time. Constantly changing in the glass, the 2009 is endowed with superb energy and tension. It is also incredibly inward and in need of considerable cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2024-2049."

First Diamond Creek in a while, relieved that the vibrant red fruit and minerality are still there, like the old days, along with their classic gravelly tannins.

Wide open and quite drinkable. Gobs of supple red fruit hung on a classic mountain structure. Tannins and acid lead. Tasted blind among prestigious napa cabs - performed very well.

Interesting and delicious but in an unexpected way for a Napa Cab. The nose has cherry and leather and a bit of tobacco. Backwards on the tongue. First sharp tannin that dissipate quickly then the fruit and volcanic ash takes over. Please decant and let open up. Then enjoy.
