Daou Vineyards Pessimist Paso Robles Red Blend 2019

$27

A fantastic Red Blend from Paso Robles that we highly recommend! From Daou Vineyards, one of Paso's leading wineries. 92 Points Robert Parker: "The 2018 Pessimist is a barrel sample blend of 62% Petite Sirah, 19% Zinfandel, 17% Syrah and 2% Lagrein. It is expected to age for 11 months in 50% new French oak. Opaque ruby-purple, it offers up tar, chargrill, turned black earth and blackcurrants with wafts of blackcurrant bud, dark chocolate, smoked meats and crushed red cherries. The medium to full-bodied palate has lifted flavor layers, a firm, grainy frame and long, spicy, fresh finish." 92 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pessimist is a lot of wine for not much buck. The Pessimist cuvée by the Daou Brothers is always a good value for those who love opulent fruit, and the 2018 offers loads of sweet blue fruits, white chocolate, violets, and toasted spice aromas and flavors. Based on 62% Petite Sirah, 19% Zinfandel, and 17% Syrah, it’s full-bodied, decadent, and rich while staying light on its feet. I’d be happy to drink it."

A blend of 74% Petite Sirah, 13% Syrah & 27% Zinfandel, aged in French oak (60% new). Dark Ruby with ripe dark fruit aromas with big spicy oak. On the palate flavors of black cherry and blackberry with notes of black pepper, leather and cacao. Well balanced, fine tannins, medium+ finish ending with fruit, vanilla and floral notes.
