Daou Vineyards Pessimist Paso Robles Red Blend 2018

$27.99

A fantastic Red Blend from Paso Robles that we highly recommend! From Daou Vineyards, one of Paso's leading wineries. 92 Points Robert Parker: "The 2018 Pessimist is a barrel sample blend of 62% Petite Sirah, 19% Zinfandel, 17% Syrah and 2% Lagrein. It is expected to age for 11 months in 50% new French oak. Opaque ruby-purple, it offers up tar, chargrill, turned black earth and blackcurrants with wafts of blackcurrant bud, dark chocolate, smoked meats and crushed red cherries. The medium to full-bodied palate has lifted flavor layers, a firm, grainy frame and long, spicy, fresh finish." 92 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pessimist is a lot of wine for not much buck. The Pessimist cuvée by the Daou Brothers is always a good value for those who love opulent fruit, and the 2018 offers loads of sweet blue fruits, white chocolate, violets, and toasted spice aromas and flavors. Based on 62% Petite Sirah, 19% Zinfandel, and 17% Syrah, it’s full-bodied, decadent, and rich while staying light on its feet. I’d be happy to drink it."

One of my favorite wines! Dark purple in color, full bodied, silky smooth with lots of dark fruit on the palate. Never disappoints!

I can try new wines all day to broaden my knowledge about wine, but there are always those wines that will make me sigh with happiness taking that first sip!

Boysenberry pie with those smells. Jammmmmmmmy! Boysenberry and fresh and dried fig, full of fruit and life, powdery tannins, and zippy acidity. Jammy, so much so, I am reminded of a song from my youth. Yeah Jam on it (Yeah, yeah, we know, we know) Huh (Yeah, Goggles, you gonna rock it, right) (You gonna do it down, right) Ha-ha-ha-ha, yeah (Hey, Cozmo, what's the name of this again) (I forgot) Jam on it (Oh) Wikki-wikki-wikki-wikki (Shut up) Wikki-wikki-wikki-wikki

Plum, sweeter currants, some tannins, jammy. Slight bitterness but balanced overall easy to drink.
