A Fantastic Anderson Valley Pinot Noir from specialist Wells Guthrie at Copain. Limited. Wall Street Journal Selection: "Still aromatically closed, but very silky in texture, with sweet-sour red fruit and savory, herbal notes. This is already delicious but will benefit from a few years in the cellar." A cold climate Anderson Valley vineyard just outside the town of Philo, Wentzel’s upper block is planted to a variety of Dijon clones. The sandstone and rocky soils add a beautiful minerality to the wine, which is bottled unfiltered. Winemaker Notes: Despite the challenges that 2011 brought to Anderson Valley, our wines from this vintage are some of the most elegant Wells has made, offering great tension and balance. A cool, rainy spring and summer delayed the growing season, while mid-September brought sun and 90 degree heat to the vineyards. We harvested this fruit during a brief window in October as the vineyards were drying out.

Mid burgundy color. Loads of cherry and cola, in a subdued but deep way. Earthy, red fruit, with some sarsaparilla. Pure Pinot. Well made
