$44.99

A blockbuster new Napa Valley red blend from one of our favorite small producers. Get the new vintage before the ratings come out! Coho Winery is the shared aspiration of Brooks Painter and Gary Lipp to produce flavorful, balanced wines. The Coho 2012 Headwaters Red Napa Valley (Cabernet Sauvignon with some Merlot and Petite Verdot blended in) shows off a dense purple color plus a sweet perfume of espresso, white chocolate, black cherries, and figs. With tremendous opulence, density, and a long, lush finish, it will provide plenty of pleasure anytime over the next decade. 93 Points James Suckling: "Aromas of licorice and tar with black currants. Full body, round and silky tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Gorgeous wine. Drink or hold." previous vintage 95 Points Wine Spectator: "Firm, rich and vibrant, this is intense, focused, concentrated and persistent, with a taut band of dried currant, mineral, plum and spice, gaining depth and complexity while maintaining a presence of balance and finesse. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2018."

Delicious! Cabernet blend with perfect balance. Nicely integrated tannins. And at 5 years of age, the fruit forwardness graciously subsides to make room for subtle complexity.

Really solid wine. Complex notes, black pepper, fruit leather, with blue fruit on the palate. Great tannin grain, it's textured and layered with no pronounced alc. the winemaker was a bit standoffish when I met him but I won't hold that against him.

A much better showing than the last time I had this. Much more complex and polished.

Lighter than I would have expected. Middle of the road. Nothing that would stand out. Somewhat disappointed given my previous experience with Coho

Took some time for some of the acidity to fade but then opened up and became rather enjoyable
