Cockburn's Vintage Port Blend 2011

$79.99

The 2011 vintage was phenomenal for the Port houses of Portugal and the Cockburn's is one of the highest-rated of the vintage. Limited. 97 Points Wine Spectator: “Amazingly fresh and juicy, with concentrated raspberry and dark cherry flavors that are well-sculpted and pure. Very minerally midpalate, this offers a fruity finish that features luscious chocolate notes. A sleek and vibrant style. Best from 2030 through 2060.” 98 points James Suckling: "Great nose here with flowers, leaves and a wet earth character. Full body, lightly sweet with a massive finish. This is muscular, toned and intense. Superb: the greatest ever vintage Port from here! This is tasting much better than from barrel. 3,000 cases produced of this mechanically trodden wine. Try after 2024."

Humdinger! Seamless silk though the mouth with a lick of kirsch to finish in the house style. 40 hours maceration....superb.

So modern and spotless I had a difficult time understanding it! Managed tannin, tamed brandy, groomed port.

Very rich, notably fruit forward style. The fruit is definitely more red than most 11's at this stage. For me the fruit is not entirely pure and the wine is just a tiny touch clouded compared to some but others disagree and really love this one. Probably just something that will smooth off with age. Texture and finish both great. Lots of interest here so very interesting to see how it develops, good value
