Cliff Lede Vineyards Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

$69.99

A fantastic Cabernet from a rising star in the Stags Leap District! Get the stellar new 2017 vintage from Cliff Lede while it's available. 95 Points Wine Enthusiast: "With small amounts of Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, this is a classically structured, earthy and impressive wine. Char, herb and earth accents frame the elegant, crisp fruit and graceful tannins, with a lasting taste of crushed rock." 94 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous):  "The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (Stags Leap District) shows off the more extroverted side of the year to great effect. Inky dark fruit, chocolate, leather, lavender, spice, menthol and cloves are all amped up. The 2017 is a rich, explosive wine built on flamboyance and volume. This large-scaled, potent Cabernet Sauvignon has a ton to offer. Best of all, with a case production of over 5,500, it will be relatively easy to find, and is just as nearly as exceptional as the flagship bottlings in this range. In a word: superb." 91 Points Robert Parker: "Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District leaps from the glass with notions of baked black plums, black forest cake and raspberry coulis with hints of cracked black pepper, hoisin, sautéed herbs and charcuterie. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is filled with juicy baked berries and plum preserves notions, framed by gently played, soft tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing on a spicy note." At Cliff Lede Vineyards, winemaker Christopher Tynan crafts Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, with the flagship, Poetry Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from the steep eastern hillside portion of the estate. In 2015, Cliff Lede Vineyards achieved both Napa Green Land and Napa Green Winery certification.

Pencils shavings, graphite, lush but not flabby fruit, minimal vanilla interventions… excellent.

Gentle nose of plum, cassis, cedar, leather and lovely subtle purple flowers. Medium to full body. The palate is supple and seamless. Good fruit concentration sprinkling with black pepper and fresh herbs. Fresh acidity and well constructed mellow tannins. Will enjoyable now, patience will be rewarded.

About as classically structured as you can get from a big Napa Cab. Deep purple color with light garnet highlights in the glass. The bouquet is highly expressive upon entering with dark fruit aromas all over it. Baked raspberries combine with blue and black berries along with crisp notes of citrus fruits. Menthol and chocolate open up after considerable time decanting. Mostly wonderful Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. Very stately and far too young for maximum benefit, however there is plenty to love already. Exquisite balance and perfectly structured right now. The palate explodes with crush herbs, spice, and smoke. Those ripe fruits are highlighted here with blackberry cobbler. Kool cigarettes and absolutely luscious chocolate. The finish is quite long and gives you a bit more spice to remember it by. Cliff Lede plus Stags Leap fruit equals brilliance.

Very fruit forward kinda like Charles Krug. I wouldn’t say this was a good value though.

Rich lingering tannins on the mid pallet. Red fruit. Mouth feel is quality. A young but rewarding Cab
