Cliff Lede Vineyards Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

$74.99

A fantastic Cabernet from a rising star in the Stags Leap District! Get the new vintage while it's still available. 93 Points Robert Parker:  "A blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 7% Merlot, 7% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District offers up a cassis, smoked meat, blackberry preserves and spice cake-scented nose with a mocha hint. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated with firm, grainy tannins, it shows a lot of oak, which should marry with the intense fruit, finishing long and layered."

We had this 2 years ago this month and remember thinking it was tight and a bit tannic, but everything was in the right place. Since ‘14s are drinking well now we popped this to see where it’s at. At pop it smelled like blueberry pie, I thought it was going to be ready! Didn’t try. Had to go get a pallet of toilet paper. 3 hrs later... not a ton on the nose. The fruit blew off for the most part; graphite, cedar, and tobacco. Mouth is earthy, more tobacco, a little blackberry. Tannic throughout. End is dominated by puckering tannins. Will check back in two years. Don’t think that’ll be enough tho.

New Stags Leap find for me @ £81 / $71 that’s a rich full on Napa but w/ a lovely balanced complexity that should age nicely

Delicious but not “amazing”. Would pass as there are many other better options at this price
