Chimney Rock Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

$84.99

A classic Stags Leap District Cabernet! Chimney Rock's 134-acre estate lies in the heart of the Stags Leap District, the first viticultural area in the United States to be approved based on the distinctiveness of its soils. With 28 distinctive vineyard blocks showing an array of different aspects, soil types, clones and rootstocks, the vineyard provides a diversity of flavors that are artfully blended to capture the holistic representation of the estate Cabernet Sauvignon. 91 Points Wine Enthusiast: “This youthfully full-bodied, grippy wine has juicy cassis and a leathery texture at its core, with dried herb and cedar playing at its edges, a fine representation of a tannic vintage that offers structure in spades. Densely concentrated, it has ages to go in the bottle; drink now through 2023. Cellar Selection."

Primarily black cherry, plum with mild menthol tobacco leaf in a cedar box. Mold structure with a better finish.

A wonderful Easter dinner was spent with a couple of dear friends. This Napa Cab went beautifully with lamb. Cherry, plum and lavender wove together delightfully. Its ripe, sweet oak style worked very well with the aromatic lamb and roasted root vegetables.

I am back Stateside. I love the United States, glad to be home. We live in the best country in the world that I have seen thus far, and I am grateful. After almost 2 hours, this has a big blue-black attack with a hint of charcoal/smoke. Tannins are there and this will be killer in a couple of years. 93 points
