Château de Vaudieu Val de Dieu Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2015

$69.99

96 Points                                A great new discovery from Chateauneuf-du-Pape. One of the top wines of the great 2015 vintage. 96 Points Robert Parker: "The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Val de Dieu is another serious, concentrated and incredibly layered wine from this rock star estate. Made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, aged mostly in demi-muids, it has a kiss of toasty oak as well as notes of crème de cassis, toasted spiced, candied cherries and potpourri. This full-bodied, pure, elegant effort packs a ton of fruit, but like all of the wines here, is never over the top, stays balanced and graceful... ...Located just next to Rayas, this large, historic estate has been run with incredible precision and passion by Laurent Bréchet since 1990. Today he’s aided by superstar Rhône consultant, Philippe Cambie, and the lineup has grown to include numerous new single parcel cuvées, both in red and white. In addition, during my visit I was able to taste a bottle of the 2010 Châteauneuf du Pape Amiral G., which I rated 99 points on release. I’m happy to report it lived up to every one of those points, plus one more." 95 Points Wine Spectator: "This has the fleshy, pure and driven vintage profile of cassis and raspberry running right down the middle, with an amped-up finish of roasted apple wood, graphite and ganache notes providing a thumping bass line. Needs a little more time to knit fully, but that won't be a problem. Best from 2020 through 2040. 658 cases made."

So, so young but delicious. Comes out light and bright with delicious red fruit and plum. Has Asian spice and cedar. Confident that by day 2 (and 3 if it makes it that long) it will have added weight just with oxygen. Absolutely wonderful wine. After four hours this developed so superbly. Day 3 and this was really singing. Shows perfectly what is to come with bottle aging
