Château de Saint-Cosme Les Deux Albion Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend 2018

$24.99

St Cosme is one of the Rhone Valley's hot up-and-coming producers. The fantastic "Les Deux Albion" is basically declassified Gigondas at a fraction of the price. Dont miss! 91 Points Wine Enthusiast: "This Syrah-dominant blend augmented by Grenache, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Clairette is sourced from three Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages communes of Plan de Dieu Saint Maurice and Cairanne. Vinified in wooden vats and matured in concrete, it offers decadent cassis and black-plum flavors accented by tar, charred sage and licorice. Supple and piercing, the wine is ready now but will hold through 2028." 90 Points Robert Parker: "Mainly Grenache, with smaller portions of Mourvèdre and Syrah, the St. Cosme 2018 Cotes du Rhone Les Deux Albions matured in wooden and concrete vats. Black cherries and blueberries mark the nose, picking up hints of garrigue and black olives along the way. Medium to full-bodied, plush and expansive, it turns almost velvety on the finish. It's another terrific bargain from Barruol."

Blackberries, baking spices, leather, and strawberries. I think this is a winner for $23!

Second time having this wine, same vintage, different context, different environment. Still quite enjoyable but this bottle isn’t as “smooth” as the last. Dark red fruit, cherry, blackberry, with some funk and spice, some green notes like an unripe vine. Feels more wild and tannins are more grippy. Not bad for $25.

Absolutely delicious! Pairs well with romaine lettuce salad and horsey braised short rib.

Tres bon avec la pizza maison, les deux albions livre toujours la marchandise, peut-etre un brin cher pour une CDR mais il ne me déçoit rarement. Petits fruits noirs, poivre, herbal.

A mite bit too sweet. Not enough complexity.
