Château de Saint-Cosme Gigondas Red Rhone Blend 2014

$42.99

St Cosme is one of the Rhone Valley's hot up-and-coming producers. The Fantastic "Les Deux Albion" is basically declassified Gigondas at a fraction of the price.  Dont miss. 95 Points Wine Spectator:  "A textbook version of the brawny side of Gigondas, this offers a grippy alder bass line underneath layers of dark currant and fig fruit, while lots of tobacco, rosemary and bay fill in throughout. Muscular and energetic, this is built for the cellar. Best from 2019 through 2030." 93 Points Robert Parker: "

So easy to drink now but a serious wine.

I don't have a lot of experience with gigondas, but this was a perfectly lovely bottle. Beautiful fruit and herbal nose and lots of minerality on the palate. A bit too much anise and black tea astringents on the extremely dry finish for my personal liking (I'm sure others will disagree)

Not showing much fruit. I think of iron, clay, grape stems and garrigue. Not for everyone but very interesting.

Bramble berry compote, black peppercorns, ash, raspy garrigue, meat, and turned earth. Young, robust, dark, veracious and packing some sinew right now but should age beautifully.

Violets, blackberries and cherries on the nose. Pronounced tannins and high alcohol. Med+ body and med+ intensity flavors. Med+ finish with lingering sensations of tea and dried strawberries. #cotesdurhone #grenache #syrah #mourvedre #gigondas

Beautiful earthy, rose petal nose, strawberry notes. Lighter on the palate than I was looking for, but excellent structure. Thanksgiving bottle #1.
