Chasseur Durell Vineyard Chardonnay 2010

$55

Chasseur is a small producer down the road from Kistler that is making some of California's best Chardonnay and Pinot Noirs - discover them while they are still available!  Only 114 cases produced.95 Points Brix26: "This is a truly complete Chardonnay, possessed of enormous richness, fine varietal definition and the terroir characteristics associated with its famous vineyard. The nose brings forth plush peach, apple skin, baked apple, vanilla cream and toasted coconut scents, in fine harmony.  Things are deeper still on the palate, which feels drenched in mouth-coating spiced-apple pie, peach tart, toasted nut, coconut and crème brulee flavors that are balanced both by chiseled mineral notes and brisk fruit acidity. At the end, the flavor seems almost panoramic, and everything lingers beautifully. It should get still better over the next few years. 7 barrels produced." 92 Points Wine Spectator:  "Builds on subtle, rich, layers of ripe fig, honeydew melon and light toasty oak. Impressive for its creamy texture and layered finish. Drink now through 2017."

Downright delicious and multidimensional. The fruit profile is really sexy with peach, pineapple and meyer lemon complimented by flint stone and the right amount of oak. While the acid backbone is there, it's never harsh. Not an IPOB wine.
