Carpe Diem Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

$27.99

A fantastic value in Cabernet from the winemaking team at Dominus! Carpe Diem 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is made in a classic winemaking style, respecting the characteristics of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape. The wine is fruit forward, elegant, and exhibits soft tannins, making it pleasant to drink in its youth. Oak is used sparingly to keep Carpe Diem fresh and vibrant. Grapes for the Carpe Diem Cabernet Sauvignon have been selected exclusively from the best vineyards in world renowned Napa Valley. Vinified under the strict supervision of Christian Moueix's winemaking team in Yountville, California, Carpe Diem embodies the essence of Napa Valley classic Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a refreshing and straightforward wine expressing its bountiful fruit with bright aromas of wild strawberries and soft tannins.

The most unexciting Cabernet. Bitter on the tip of your tongue and lack of flavor on back of your palette. Very disappointed. Lack of burst fruit forward.

This wine has a spicy nose. The fruit is modest but you get some cranberry and blueberry. The wine is pretty dry which I liked. There is an earthy or vegetable undertone as well. The finish is modest, that was something of a letdown in a Napa cab of this vintage. The finish improved a little and the wine a lot after breathing for about 30 minutes. For $20 at Costco, this was not too bad. You could probably do better though.

Jammy, medium-bodied, slightest hint of chocolate and leather. Price is right.
