91 points - limited Fantastic new Petite Sirah release from Carlisle, one of our favorite small producers! Very limited. 93 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The base 2016 Petite Sirah (there's 8% Syrah in the blend) is a serious mouthful of a wine. Black fruits, chocolate, scorched earth and charcoal notes all give way to a big, rich, opulent effort that has plenty of building tannin. I suspect it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15 years." 91 Points Robert Parker: "A blend of 92% Petite Sirah and 8% Syrah, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Petite Sirah has a very compelling perfume of violets and baking spices over a core of kirsch, blackberry pie and wild blueberries with a touch of peppercorn. Full-bodied, concentrated and rich, it has a firm frame of chewy tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and earthy. 292 cases produced... ...From humble beginnings in 1998, Carlisle continues to go from strength to strength, growing from a solid philosophy of sourcing mainly Zinfandel and Rhône varieties from ancient vineyards in Sonoma and further afield. So, most of the vines used by Mike and Kendall Officer were planted from 1888 to 1934. From 2013, they have their own winery in which to create their magic—the old Robert Mueller winery in Russian River Valley."
