95 Points - limited Inaugural Syrah release from the Sierra Mar Vineyard from Carlisle, one of our favorite small producers! Very limited - only 324 cases produced. 95 Points Robert Parker: "Even better, the 2014 Syrah Sierra Mar Vineyard might be the top Syrah out of this vineyard. Also inky and glass-staining, it offers killer notes of caramelized plums, smoked meats, licorice, cassis and pepper in a full-bodied, ultra-pure, elegant package. I love its mid-palate and this total blockbuster will knock your socks off over the coming decade or longer."

A full and glass-staining wine with acidity and tannic spine to boot. Monolithic at this point but starts to come around after 24h and hints at a good long future. More fruit driven than classic meat/game/bacon elements, but not overblown.

My 1st experience with Carlisle. A little bacon fat in the nose when I first opened but it blew off during the decant. Floral and blue fruited nose. Full bodied and monolithic. It's young, so long runway to improve and take on some secondary characteristics.
