Limited new Zinfandel from Carlisle.95 Points Robert Parker: "I’ll just briefly summarize the 2014s. It was the earliest vintage ever for Mike Officer and probably he’ll beat that early harvest record in 2015. In this case, he was finished by October 6, which was a first, and it will be interesting to see if he eclipses that in 2015, which was looking even earlier. The production levels were relatively abundant for Mike Officer and the wines fruit-forward, although softer and less reserved than some of the 2013s. While not quite as opaque in color, they are loaded with fruit, supple and luscious. The only white wine, the Grüner Veltliner Steiner Vineyard, makes an appearance in 2014, and it’s another beauty – it’s crisp and the only wine in bottle. The other wines all stood out and will, no doubt, merit outstanding ratings across the board for their intensity, richness, and full-bodied power. If you already know what Mike Officer does, and the style of his wines, you won’t be disappointed in his 2014s. You may even like them as much as any vintage, given the fact that this year shows a lot of up-front fruit and charm... ...One of the great success stories in Northern California is the genesis of Carlisle Winery, whose owner, Mike Officer, began as a wine hobbiest / software developer and grew into a full-time wine producer who has done more to save head-pruned, old-vine Zinfandel vineyards than anyone else in the United States. He built his reputation on full-flavored red wines and continues to fine-tune these beauties, often field blends of what are generically referred to as “mixed blacks” planted primarily by Italian immigrants prior to Prohibition."

Best bottle of red I have had in 2023, aging Carlisle is well worth it and that cannot be said for many Zins.

Good varietal character yet restrained. Medium extract in color, purple red. Slight raisin and fig in nose. Cherry flavor with fine tannins. Nice up-price Zin; me like very much

Not a shy wine with plenty of stuffing and aromas that reminded me of A. Rafanelli Zins.

Pnp and drinking so well now. This is an amazing example of a zinfandel. Perfectly balanced between black & blue fruits, and spice. A few years of aging has done marvels for this wine.

Beautiful coloration, initially shy aromatics that opened up by 2nd pour with dark, expressive fruits, lovely, though not heavy dark fruits in the palate with pleasing finish

Very young. Per a 2009 Carlisle I last last night, give this 5 more years. After a two hour decant this just started to show, just in the nose.

This is the prettiest, although hefty, zin I have had, ever. It's a berry fruit overload at entry, but tannin and youthful acidity bring it home with a peppery symphony. I want more of this. Great with BBQ.
