Cakebread Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

$74.99

One of CA's most popular Cabs               Cakebread Cabernet - One of Napa's Valley's Classic Cabs and the 2015 is one of the best ever. Fragrant boysenberry, blackberry, dark cherry, cassis and Mission fig aromas comprise the fresh, fruitful nose of the Cakebread Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The first sip of the wine reveals a big, boldly structured Cabernet with deeply concentrated black fruit flavors and intriguing dusty, loamy and mineral-y tones that add wonderful dimension and complexity. Boasting an undercurrent of soft, plush fruit that will emerge further with aging, this sophisticated, yet approachable Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will reward another 5-7 years’ cellaring. Robert Parker: "..among the finest “regular” Cabernet Sauvignons I have tasted from Cakebread.

Very enjoyable and met expectations. Tannins are sharp, fruit is medium long on the finish. Needs a few years to mellow out.

Exceptional, well balanced Cabernet from Napa. Rather young at this point, could benefit from a few more years in the bottle. At this age, it really opens up after about an hour of air. Medium bodied with slight fruit, it’s acidic at first but that falls off after some time in glass. Not the best but this is very enjoyable!

On the nose cool, ripe boysenberries, blackberries, and plums with myriad baking spices, eucalyptus, sweet pipe tobacco, and graphite. On the palate juicy blackberries and plums with cedar and licorice, all laced in voluptuous, velvety tannins.

Matt.... goodies are in the back room. Yes they are.... great wine. Smooth. Jammy but in a good way.

Decanted and opened for an hour. Mild bouquet of dark fruit. Initial taste of plums then a middle of mild raspberries and vanilla? Then a change to cherries on the finish. Then a quick non tannic fade to tartness.

I have to rate this one again. I have maybe two sips left. It is by far my favorite and the best ever cab. It has everything - the flavors, the smoothness, the complexity. This defines what a cab should be, and it was a gift from an amazing person, which makes it so so much better. Funny how a bottle of wine can do so much

Something went really wrong with their 2016 & 2017 years. I am a wine club member & have tried 2010, 2012-2017. I thought I got a bad bottle of 2016, but then the next one was the same. I was excited to get 2017 because I thought it would be correct and it did not. Go for an earlier vintage if you are going to spend the money. 2014 is my favorite right now.
