Cade Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2012

$63.99

CADE is Plumpjack's hot new winery on Howell Mountain.  Limited. 2012 was a great vintage. The resulting wine has aromas of black cherry, plum, cassis, brown sugar, rose petals, hazelnut, and blackberry compote. The palate is full of toasty oak, baking spice, boysenberry, blueberry, and milk chocolate flavors. The tannins are integrated, smooth, and mouth coating. The oak barrels used add a velvety texture and a touch of vanilla bean, maple, and caramel to the finish.Robert Parker: "This is a very strong set of wines from Cade, the Howell Mountain sister property of Plumpjack. Winemaker Tony Biagi and his team have crafted a gorgeous set of 2009s and 2010s. The wines are very different stylistically, yet quite similar in terms of quality. The Howell Mountain bottling includes purchased fruit and a dollop of Merlot. The Estate bottling is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, naturally from the estate’s own vineyards, and tends to be vinified with 100% natural malos. Both wines are striking."Brix26 Inside Scoop:  PlumpJack's new winery, Cade, is up on Napa Valley's Howell Mountain and is turning out some fantastricly rich mountain Cabernets.  On your next visit to the Napa Valley we recommend a visit to taste their wines from the stunning views at the winery.

Nose of ripe blackberry and earth. Blueberry. Vanilla, but just a touch. On the mouth it's young, but tasty. Silky dark berries. Solid bottle of wine.

Balanced and subtle. Full of blue, red and black fruit with pine and wet earth. Seems to be in a place to drink in the near term.

Red fruited, vanilla, and some cigar box. Tannins are already softening, open for biz.

Howell Mountain is becoming one of my preferred wine regions in Napa valley, producing lovely wines from a variety of wineries and estates, this blend of CS and Petit Verdot has a deep red color, a tempting fruity and concentrated nose, with black cherries spiced with vanilla, dry figs and prunes, full rich body, well structured with loads of fruit and delicious dry tannins, it has a good acidity to carry it for another decade and a sexy long finish. My score 89, drink to 2027

I'm sure they are out there but I haven't had a bad 2012 #NapaCab yet

Big tannins, bitty, minerality, blue and black fruits. Astringent on the finish.

Smooth with minimal tannins with no decanting. Fruity. Ready to drink.

After almost nine months in ship’s stores, it was time to break this baby out! Would give it plenty of time to breathe and pair with a hearty meal (perhaps a porcini risotto!). Classic Napa red - full bodied with hints of oak and vanilla undertones.
