Cade Estate Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$98

94 Points - limited                                         CADE is Plumpjack's hot new winery on Howell Mountain.  Limited. 95 Points Antonio Galloni: (Vinous):  "Cade's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is rich, sumptuous and alluring. The purity and intensity of the fruit is striking. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, menthol, licorice and violet are some of the many notes that emerge from the glass. Above all else, the 2015 has quite a bit of detail and nuance for such a big wine. This is an especially fruity, lush style for Howell Mountain, but it works nicely. Time in the glass brings out more red-toned character as well as a floral element that is not evident at first." 94 points Robert Parker: "The 2015s, which are somewhat surprisingly already in bottle, include the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate that is an identical blend to the 2014. The wine is dense ruby/purple, plump, juicy and fleshy with plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit. It cuts an even bigger mouth-texture and richness than its older sibling. This is a beauty to drink over the next 12-15 years." Brix26 Inside Scoop:  PlumpJack's new winery, Cade, is up on Napa Valley's Howell Mountain and is turning out some fantastricly rich mountain Cabernets.  On your next visit to the Napa Valley we recommend a visit to taste their wines from the stunning views at the winery.

The darkest of garnet colors in the glass. Black currant, blackberry, anise, and earth. Soft and velvety, with earthy black fruits. Medium tannins with a semi-dry finish.

2015 Cali red. It was nice but liked the Caymus and especially the Michel Rolland much better. Very dry and wish had opened and let breathe for hour or so before drinking to give it time. Had wine cheese party for S&S relatives while they were in town. NOLA
