Booker Vineyard Oublié Red Rhone Blend 2017

$79.99

97 pts - rare release                                  New release from Paso cult producer Booker Vineyards. As always, limited. 97 Points Jed Dunnuck: "I loved the 2017 Oublie. This blend of 53% Grenache, 22% Mourvèdre, 21% Syrah and the rest a mix of varieties offers a layered, silky, seamless profile. Giving up more black and blue fruits, peppery herbs, and floral overtones, it has silky tannins, medium to full body, and a great finish. It’s another beautiful wine...Eric Jensen’s Booker Vineyards continues to make a ripe, sexy, pedal-to-the-metal syle of wine and these latest 2017s don’t disappoint." previous vintage 95 Points Wine Spectator:  "Expressive and impressively structured, with savory blackberry aromas and accents of rosemary, thyme and crushed stone, opening to complex, densely layered flavors of currant, pepper and espresso. Grenache, Mourvèdre and Counoise. Best from 2018 through 2028...54% Grenache, 29% Mourvèdre, 17% Counoise. Arguably the biggest and most concentrated Oublie ever, this wine reminds me one a Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes from Marcoux or Janasse. Lots of ripe red fruit characteristics but a gorgeously proportioned mid-palate that you don't usually get from Grenache and Mourvèdre. Feel free to crack this wine anytime."

Saturated ruby. Deeply perfumed, spice-tinged aromas of black raspberry, floral oils, smoky minerals and vanilla; a mineral nuance builds in the glass. Juicy and densely packed but energetic as well, conveying a suave blend of power and finesse to the sweet red and blue fruit, violet pastille and spicecake flavors. Delivers a serious punch but comes off lithe, showing outstanding clarity and floral drive on an extremely long, gently tannic finish. 45% new puncheons. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2020)
