Celebrating 10,000 followers on Instagram! let's open this beautiful Pinot Noir from California. Deep ruby in color with a short purple rim. Beautiful nose of black currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, dried figs, tobacco, spices, herbs, light vegetables, pencil lead, black pepper, chocolates, mocha, earth and dark coffee. Full bodied, smooth and elegant with medium acidity and beautiful long legs. Dry and extremely fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet plums, cherries, wood, cloves, light vegetables, pencil lead, peppercorn, leather, tobacco, chocolates and mocha. Long finish with very soft tannins and tangy raspberries. This Pinot Noir from the Wagner family is drinking so nicely now. This 4 year old is well balanced with nice complexity and a great mouthfeel. Soft, velvety and delicious. A Pinot Noir for the Cabernet lover. Fruit forward, rich and extracted, and might be too fruity for some. Good right out of the bottle and didn't really change much, even after 2 hours of airtime. I paired it with cheeses, dried fruits and light flatbreads. Aged for 9 months in French oak barrels. 14.7% alcohol by volume. 94 points. $50.

Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner is a 4th generation winemaker from a family with farming and winemaking roots in the Napa Valley since 1906. Opened another bottle I had tucked away, Ruby with red fruit aromas and earthy notes. The palate shows raspberries and blackberry with toasty oak, cacao and espresso notes. Soft tannins and acidity, well balanced, with mineral tones on a lingering finish. Aging made this wine a little bigger compared to my older notes. Nice wine to celebrate National Wine Day!

Great Pinot, one of the best I have been able to find. Smooth and fruit forward, but very nicely balanced. I had to check a few times to make sure this wasn't a cab.

A serious PN with some heat on the nose. A touch tannic on the finish.
