New release! New from the folks at Far Niente, Bella Union is their inaugural Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford. The 2014 Bella Union offers inviting bright red cranberry, raspberry, boysenberry, dark plum and earth aromas, married with vanilla spice, toast, warm caramel and coffee aromas. The palate expands with concentrated, dark red fruit, black cherry, boysenberry and plum. On the finish, the palate gives way to warm toasted flavors complemented by toffee and coffee notes. This well-balanced wine is structured from start to finish with an enchanting texture that lingers through to completion. Located in Rutherford along Bella Oaks Lane—hallowed ground for Napa Valley Cabernet—the 25-acre Bella Union Vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small portion devoted to Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This western bench location offers an ideal combination of cool evenings and warm afternoons, which, in turn, allows the grapes to ripen fully and evenly. The site’s well-draining, gravelly loam soil plays an equally important role, contributing to the signature character of the vineyard. The fruit is intense, beautifully proportioned and complex with aromatic ripe plum, black cherry and currant flavor

Immensely enjoyable Cab that is reminiscent of a metal fist in a velvet glove - powerful tannins and full-bodied yet surround by supple and lush fruit.

Enjoyable tasting event with Far Niente wines tonight. I've had a few Nickel & Nickel, but never any of Far Niente's own wines. Been wanting to try this label from Far Niente, so I was excited. Crafted to be enjoyed at a young age, they succeeded nicely here. The nose is inviting and reveals red and black fruits and a hint of vanilla. Silky texture on the palate and tannins take a backseat to the rush of black cherry, cola, and raspberries. Solid value.

Full bodied powerful Napa cab, yet fortunately not too ripe jammy fruit. Well integrated strong tannins, med to med+ acidity, nice earthiness makes for a pleasing structure. Great value from Far Niente.

Solid Napa Cab. Bold, dry, mild tannins. Not remarkable but quite good.
