Behrens Family Winery Homeland Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

$68

New release from Spring Mountain's Behrens Family Winery. 96 Points Robert Parker: "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Homeland is another blockbuster Cabernet with an inky purple color, sweet crème de cassis and blackberry fruit, licorice, truffle, stunning concentration and a multi-dimensional mouthfeel. This is another tribute to incredible fruit and purity. Drink it over the next 20 years." Get ready for the premiere of Homeland. A candy-cherry nose, loaded with floral, black plum and licorice notes, this powerful and lively wine is balanced with a firm tannin structure. Blackberry jam, raspberry and graphite minerality extend into the lengthy finish. We have worked for years with this vineyard, north of Napa town, which is also the Merlot source for our Frontman. We are happy to create this expressive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and to call it Homeland.  90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Petite Sirah, 2% Syrah. Only 482 cases produced.

This is a great cab Sauv. Could have used some decanting but was still delicious. Big and chewy, the wine shows black fruits and baking spices. It evolved greatly in the glass over time. Very nice.
