Bedrock Winery is producing some of the most exciting new releases we've tasted in California and the 2014 North Coast Syrah is a fantastic value - only 125 cases made Winemaker Morgan Twain-Peterson believes that in order to make great Syrah in California you need lifted aromatics, fresh fruit and healthy acidity--and to get those things you have to pick early. And that's what he did. The 2012 North Coast Syrah comes from vineyards from California's cooler, coastal growing regions. including the Sonoma Coast, Napa Carneros and Mendocino. Using 50% whole clusters and 4.5% Viognier, this is delicous, food-friendly Syrah that tastes like Syrah should!

In a great spot right now and drinking beautifully. Wish I had more.

In a funky spot right now. Seems to be best right out the gate. After an hour or so the wine starts to fade. Big though at the start.

QPR King for new world Syrah. Yes, rich fruit, but also nice acidity, olives and meat. Yum.

Great Northern Rhone-esque character (just with more new world oak). Intensity with floral aromatics and density.

For $19 this is pretty damn hard to beat. Intensity, great typicity, flavor to spare, and enough grip to let you know it has more than a few years of deliciosity to offer. Went great tonight with a spicy grilled tri-tip. Roasted meat flavors coming at you from all angles!

A consistent favorite and a ridiculous value. I buy this by the case, but the case is almost gone.

Pot roast wine number two. Young, juicy, exuberant. On the second day the structure and non-fruit components peek out shyly from around the corner, hinting at what's to come with a little patience. QPR steal.
