Beckmen Vineyards Le Bec Blanc Santa Ynez Valley Marsanne Blend 2011

$17.99

A fantastic white blend from one of our favorite Santa Barbara area wineries. Robert Parker: "Also solid, the value-priced 2011 Le Bec Blanc is a blend of 42% Marsanne, 33% Roussanne, 19% Grenache Blanc and 6% Viognier that was aged 11 months (which is longer than previous vintages) in one- to seven-year-old French oak barrels. Offering up ripe peach, dried pineapple, flower oil and honeysuckle, it is a rich, full-flavored effort that stays lively and clean on the palate. A perfect mid-week workhorse, it should be consumed over the coming year or three. Drink now-2015...This was a great tasting with Steve Beckmen and assistant winemaker Michael Sigouin. These wines never lack for fruit or texture, yet show beautiful poise and length, especially in these cooler vintages."

Love it, very distinctive. Mellow blend, not overly sweet.

A little better than the ratings suggest, I think this is better due to the age. Difficult to pick out the different components, but I think this has some interesting layers to it. Would have been better with a bit more grenache blanc for my tastes, but a nice wine (absolutely terrible pairing with some terrific scallops, though!).

Pale gold. Aroma: slight oak and citrus brightness. Taste: oak, butter, very subtle brightness.

Very light with good mineral taste. Maybe a touch of citrus.
