Rare Chardonnay release from Beaux-Freres owner Mike Etzel. Tiny production. The Beaux Freres Willamette Valley Chardonnay comes from the Star Mooring vineyard (planted by Mike D. Etzel in 2014), along with a few carefully selected parcels tucked in other ideal corners of the Willamette Valley. As if directed by Leonard Bernstein, this harmonious wine delivers orchestral balance despite its youth. An Old World-esque depth of flavor and low alcohol ensure graceful aging for 7 - 10 more years. Just 268 cases produced. Tasting Notes: Meadowfoam honey and Lemon verbena aromatics are followed by bees wax and a waft of citrus flower. This is truly a nectar of sunlight across the palate, with bright, energetic freshness.

Freshly open I get steely notes of herbs and hay. A little reductive but in a good way. Pleasant on the palate and fairly restrained.

Chablis-style Chardonnay but disappointing. My bottle was thin with too much alcohol. Great Chablis nose of green apple. But the palette was watery and alcoholic, although some slight apple and pear flavor was perceptible.

Pale straw color. Shy aroma of lemon rind. Tree fruit on the palate. Oak well in balance. Elegant, crisp and good mineral structure. Average relative value.

I am not a Chardonnay lover but this is so good! Oregon chards just tend to be less oaky and a little stonier. This one’s a keeper!!
