Beaulieu Vineyard Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$124.95

96 Points - new release                           A legendary Napa Cabernet- new release! The superb 2015 vintage gave the Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon its unctuous fruit character and dense structure. Hugely complex, the wine reveals a broad spectrum of briary blackberry, black cherry and currant notes, with nuances of violet and bittersweet chocolate. Muscular tannins support the plush, expansive palate, while impeccably balanced acidity adds vibrancy. 96 Points James Suckling: "Extremely complex aromas of currant, coffee, spearmint, Thai basil and sandalwood. Full body, firm and chewy tannins yet linear and exciting. Just a baby. Fantastic structure here. Better in 2020."

The 2015 ‘Georges de Latour’ is another stunning release of this storied wine by Beaulieu Vineyards. Coming from a warm vintage in the Napa Valley, this gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon shows off an inky core, slowly unveiling exotic spices, espresso bean, blackberry cobbler and hints of pipe tobacco that all build on this expressive nose. The palate shows some serious weight and elegance as the wine gracefully dances across the mid-palate. Polished and layered with dark fruits, chocolate, minerals and herbal undertones, the 2015 ‘Georges de Latour’ is surprisingly open in its youth. If enjoying in its nascency be sure to give this beautiful wine at least a one hour decant. Drink 2020-2040- 95

V15. So good . Cocoa and cedar nose. Rich, opulent black currant and plum fruit. Tight, chewy, leather finish. Went well with prime rib.

BV wine dinner at The Tasting Room with winemaker Trevor Durling. . Fourth Course: Roasted venison loin, polenta, pickled ramps, sorrel, and fava beans. . Most certainly the WOTN, GdL never fails to impress. It’s classic Napa Cab through-and-through with a rich and expressive palate and a nose to die for. Looking forward to trying the 2016 due to the addition of some new clones.

As usual, the blend is a better buy than the single clones. This wine is too young but still shows ok. Deep ruby color, black fruits, nice tannins and good balance on acidity.
