96 points Arista is one of California's leading Pinot Noir producers under the helm of winemaker Matt Courtney (Ferren), Limited. 96 Points Robert Parker: "Pale to medium ruby in color, the 2016 Pinot Noir Ferrington Vineyard has a singular nose of dried violets, prosciutto, perfumed earth, potpourri and dried leaves with briary black fruits, bergamot and pipe tobacco?o many layers! Medium to full-bodied, it's firmly structured in the mouth with grainy tannins, juicy acidity and loads of savory layers, finishing very, very long and layered with wonderful amaro-like bitterness. 430 cases produced." The Ferrington Vineyard Pinot Noir is a dark and intense wine from one of the most historic vineyards in the famously cool Anderson Valley. On the nose, the wine shows great complexity with notes of brambly wild berry, forest floor, cola, pencil shavings, and blackberry preserves, backed up with classic secondary aromas of ground cinnamon, cedar, and Griotte cherry. The intensely floral nose is accompanied by flavors of bright red raspberry, black pepper, toasted herbs, and tart bing cherries. The mid-palate is silky and rich, leading into a long, layered finish.
