previous vintage 95 Points Wine Spectator #1 Wine of 2033: "Rose, strawberry and cherry aromas and flavors are the main themes in this red, along with wild herb, mineral and cut hay accents. Racy and full of energy, with a long, saturated finish." In the world of wine, a change of ownership or a stylistic paradigm shift can reap huge benefits, but there are always risks. In the case of Argiano, change has paid off in spades, as new owners arrived with a commitment to a return to a more traditional expression of Brunello. Reflecting more than $10 million in investment in the estate over a decade, the stellar quality of Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2018 earns it Wine of the Year honors from Wine Spectator in 2023.

Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark berry fruits, herb spice and earthy notes. On the palate flavors of black cherry and plum with cacao, cedar, licorice and pepper spice. Fine tannins, still a little grippy, great balance, complex long finish ending with earthy herbs, fruit and oaky notes. Nice!

2019 vintage. Last tasted 10.22.24 (9.4) and 3.20.24 (9.3). Tasted side by side with the 2018 vintage (9.5). Medium-heavy bod. Biggie, encompassing nose. Showing very well currently for an exalted vintage. Finish could use a touch of denouement as it's a bit wild as we speak. Yet, the entire package is fairly formidable currently. Another 4+ years should find this steering into smoother waters and drinking phenomenally.

2019 vintage. PNP'd. Medium-heavy body. Lots of extraction and fruit along with corresponding tannic presence. Youthful but still in balance as we speak. A bit aggro as far as Brunello styles go but backing up the hype. Need to revisit in a half-decade after this has a kid and has to settle down and get a job that pays the bills. 10.22.24.

2019 vintage. Tight but youthful and full of promise. Could use a 2hr decant or a 10-spot in a dark corner. 3.20.24.
