One of our favorite new white discoveries of the year! A delicious blend of Pinot Grigiot, Malvasia and Riesling that we highly recommend. Arbe Garbe winemakers Letizia and Enrico Maria Bertoz make white wines in the style of the great white wines of their native Friul, with a little California flair. Their 2012 white blend, made entirely with fruit from the wonderful Saralee's Vineyard in Windsor, is comprised of 45% Pinot Grigio, 50% Mavasia Bianca and 5% Gewurztraminer all sourced from the Saralee's Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Apricot, citrus zest, sea air and honeysuckle shape this lovely small-production white, which is wonderfully food-friendly, with a burst of delightful acidity and fabulous texture derived from soaking the Pinot Grigio on its skins for a day. One of the best whites of the vintage.
