Limited. 97+ Robert Parker: "The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Del Rio Vineyard is stunning and singular this vintage and made entirely of Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep ruby-purple, it offers aromas of tapenade, dried herbs, graphite, mushroom powder and loads of floral aromas over a core of cassis and blue fruits. The full-bodied palate is slow to unfurl, but when it does—wow! Layered and concentrated, it's wrapped in a finely pixelated frame with a streak of minerality and great freshness to lift the very long finish." Winemaker Jesse Katz has worked with Bob Foley at Hourglass and at Screaming Eagle, working alongside renowned winemaker Andy Erickson. As winemaker for both Lancaster Estate and Roth Estate, Jesse brought to bear his handcrafted style of terroir driven winemaking in producing their most highly acclaimed wines. In addition to making all wines at Aperture Cellars, Jesse also produces the 100% allocated wines for his cult brand, Devil Proof Vineyards.

Sharply-etched black fruit and rustic tannins give this wine a beefy feeling. Not as generous as the Oliver Ranch bottling, it still has great depth and presence. Cassis, black cherry, leather, cedar and a bit of anise in the background.

Pours dark dark dark ruby. Still smells young - would give this 5-10 more years. I smell cocoa, stewed black plums, cedar, eucalyptus? Strong acid for a cab, medium tannins, chewy, a little gritty.
