95+ points                                                                   Limited new Cabernet from Aperture. a great up-and-coming label from Sonoma's Alexander Valley. Limited. 95+ Robert Parker: "Made with 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 50% new oak, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Del Rio Vineyard opens with luscious aromas of molten chocolate, Morello cherries, cedar, beef drippings, cassis, black plum and floral notes with hints of red cherries and graphite. Full-bodied, lush and intensely fruited in the mouth, it has a firm frame of very finely grained tannins and great freshness to counter, finishing very long and layered. This has all the stuffing, acidity and tannic structure to be very long lived. 250 cases were made...Aperture completed a new winery in Healdsburg just in time for the 2019 vintage. The 20,000 square foot facility has all the bells and whistles a winemaker could want, including automated pump-over tanks and an optical sorter.  Across the board, the wines are intensely scented, layered and texturally stunning and represent some of the best Cabernets coming out of Sonoma County today." Winemaker Jesse Katz has worked with Bob Foley at Hourglass and at Screaming Eagle, working alongside renowned winemaker Andy Erickson. As winemaker for both Lancaster Estate and Roth Estate, Jesse brought to bear his handcrafted style of terroir driven winemaking in producing their most highly acclaimed wines.  In addition to making all wines at Aperture Cellars, Jesse also produces the 100% allocated wines for his cult brand, Devil Proof Vineyards.
