New release from one of our favorite Barolo producers in Piedmont! Limited.95 pts James Suckling: "Crazy aromas of dried berry, cedar, white truffle and handmade paper character. Full body, with perfect tannin texture and length. A wine that shows incredible depth and power." Antonio Galloni: "Oberto's 2010 Barolo is a gorgeous entry-level offering. Juicy red cherries, plums, mint and cinnamon lift from the glass in a supple, fragrant Barolo to drink now and over the next few years. The Barolo is made from four parcels in La Morra, and is aged in neutral oak. Sweet floral and cinnamon notes reappear on the finish. The 2010 is perfumed, gracious and full of near-term appeal."Nebbiolo is the grape of Italy’s most important, and highest quality reds: Barolo and Barbaresco. Perhaps named for the fog (“nebbia”) that rolls in during the late harvest season in Piedmont, Nebbiolo usually has firm tannins and good acidity, making the deceptively light-colored Barolos and Barbarescos the longest aging wines from Italy. Because it ripens late, special care must be taken in the cellar to ensure healthy, high quality wine. There’s a little Nebbiolo in other places around the world, where it’s been only moderately successful.

Still in its youth. Nose a bit reticent. Shyly reveals a little sous bois, mushroom, earthy spice, and intense cherry extract. Palate is powerful. Loads of tannin, acid, and body. You feel it more than taste it. Nice length as it fans out after swallowing. Kind of ponderous before dinner, but in a couple of hours it should go well with my manzo bolito. 9.2+

Roses, tar, tobacco, not fruity. Med-full body, dry and quite tannic. We had it with northern Italian lasagna w bolenese sauce and bechamel. Probably spelled wrong, but one of the best meals ever. A perfect wine, could’ve aged even longer.

Dark cherries and white pepper right off the bat. Smooth tannins, dark chocolate and cedar with some acid that will balance nicely with NY steaks.

Decent but might be last it's prime. Weird to say for Barolo. Drink early and often I guess. Decent fruit but finish is austere
