A beautiful new Pinot Noir from Ancien, one of our favorite small wineries producing small lots of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a range of the most exceptional sites in Napa and Sonoma. The Ancien 2013 Pinot Noir from Carneros comes entirely from the Toyon Vineyard, located in the Napa side of the appellation. It sits on a cool, southern facing knoll with spectacular views to San Pablo Bay. Deep, juicy black cherry, blackberry, and dark chocolate flavors with great structure that overlays pretty aromatics of spice, violets, and cola and bright fruit. A mouth filling combination with layer upon layer of complexity. Highly Recommended. Robert Parker: "Under owner/winermaker Ken Bernard's (he apprenticed at Domaine Carneros and Truchard before starting his own winery) capable hands, Ancien is producing complex, elegant wines that merit attention.

Nice find by my wife! Everything I need from a Cali Pinot. Juicy, fruity, stemmy all balanced together. Will seek out again.
