Anakota Helena Dakota Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

$79.99

Limited new Cabernet from Anakota. previous vintage 96+ Points Robert Parker: "The same can be said for the 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Helena Dakota Vineyard. However, it offers sweeter tannins as well as slightly more evolved and complex aromas of unsmoked, high class cigar tobacco, graphite, blackberries, cassis, spring flowers and a distinctive minerality. Although deep, full-bodied and backward, the sweet fruit and tannin provide a more upfront character than the 2009. It, too, is a 30-50-year wine. Drink 2013 – 2063." Anakota is made by master winemaker Pierre Seillan, who is the genius behind the Bordeaux-inspired blends at Verité. His Verité wines have received seven perfect 100 point scores from Robert Parker, more than any other Sonoma winery.  Anakota, focuses on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from single-vineyards in Sonoma's Knights Valley (home to cult producer Peter Michael).

2011 vintage. Popped and poured. Light-medium body (unusual for Knights Valley cab). Phenomenal nose of roasted sesame seeds and soy/teriyaki sauce reduction/glaze. Wanted just a little more oomph on the finish but was still very very nice. The super-distinct nose was unforgettable. 2011 wasn’t the easiest vintage but this is holding up well and looks to be drinking at/near this level for the next 10-spot. 11.22.23.
