Amici Cellars Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

$49.99

94 points                                                        New release from Amici Cellars who are making some of Napa Valley's best Cabernets. Highly recommended. 94 Points James Suckling: "Aromas of blackcurrants, iodine, oyster shell, and dark chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied with polished fine tannins that run the length of the wine with chocolate, hazelnut, and blueberries.” 92 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The base Amici 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley should certainly be outstanding. It offers classic darker cassis and cherry fruits, some graphite and chocolate nuances, medium to full body, and a plush, rounded, yet concentrated profile on the palate." 92 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The Amici 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is plump, juicy and super-expressive. A burst of dark cherry, plum, incense, tobacco and dried herbs race across the palate. Pliant and dense, with striking depth, the Napa Valley Cabernet is shaping up to be a winner." The 2021 Amici Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful, rich, and beautifully balanced wine. Dense aromas of dark cherry and plum are accented by hints of cocoa and creme de cassis. The full-bodied palate presents notes of ripe blackberry, dark chocolate, baking spices, and toasty oak. Silky tannins are laced throughout the long finish, promising beautiful ageability for years to come.

A blend of 82% Cab Sauv, 7% Merlot, 4% Petite Verdot, & 7% Cab Franc, aged about 18 months in 65% new French oak. Deep Ruby with aromas of black and blue fruits with burnt spicy notes. On the palate flavors of blueberry and blackberry with cedar and vanilla spice. Warming dry tannins, burnt oak, cacao and leather on the medium+ finish. Nice one, but pricy at $50. A Better price point should be $30-$35. Others at $50 better. Tasting Sample.

This is a nice, smooth berry rich wine. Yes to buying it again though there are other wines as good at a lower price point. Wine is always better with those you love

The label states Napa County. Not sure if it is the same bottling as from the previous vintages from Napa Valley. And I have seen couple producers change the AVA from Napa Valley to Napa County lately. Rich. Stewed dark fruits dominate. Might improve over time. A bit over extracted for my taste.
