Alejandro Bulgheroni Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

$299.99

96 points- new Cult Cabernet                       Hand-crafted by renowned winemaker Philippe Melka alongside the world's most recognized winemaking consultant, Michel Rolland, these small lot Cabernets are carefully sourced from a patchwork of Napa Valley's most prized vineyards in Rutherford, Oakville, Saint Helena, and Pritchard Hill, including Beckstoffer's To Kalon and Las Piedras Vineyards. Extremely limited. 96 Points Robert Parker: "Barrel samples of the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon showed even greater depth, more body, glycerin, sweeter fruit, but also a vibrancy from the tiny berries and incredibly small yields giving the wine huge concentration, but loads of acidity to buttress the fat and fleshiness of this vintage. This should be a 25- to 30-year wine at the minimum... ...This is the first time I have seen these wines from Alejandro Bulgheroni, a globe-trotting Argentinian/Italian entrepreneur who owns what is an impressive lineup of vineyards from Barossa Valley in Australia to Brunello di Montalcino in Italy, Bordeaux in France, Patagonia in Argentina, and now his own property in St. Helena in Napa Valley. Philippe Melka and Michel Rolland, two French kingpins of oenology, are consultants for his Cabernet Sauvignons."

Surprised by the relative freshness this had. Given the background of this wine, I expected more richness, concentration. Curious is this is a vineyard quality or vintage imprint, possibly just needs some time as well. Nose is ripe, black and blue, spice laden and floral, almost reminiscent of CF in the blend. Palate is less ripe, driven more by high quality cooperage than varietal to me. Very pretty though, called western bench 2014 CS/CF blend.

Alejandro Bulgheroni is a visionary with estates from Chubut to the Uruguayan Coast to Tuscany. His second Napa vintage, made by Melka, is impeccable. Structured, polished, medicinal - a name to watch for sure

A rich, voluptuous beauty, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Alejandro Bulgheroni has turned out beautifully. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and spice notes are pushed forward in a racy, voluptuous Cabernet that hits all the right notes. Silky tannins add to the wine's plush, racy personality. Raspberry jam and lifted, floral notes add striking perfume on the expressive finish. What a gorgeous wine this is. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, March 2018)
